Ils se trouvaient aux prises avec un programme épuisant, une date limite qu'ils devaient respecter, et un ensemble de numéros nouveaux qui devaient être préparés pendant une serie de représentations à Paris et un voyage, qui devait devenir légendaire, en Amérique. Pour faciliter leur tâche, les garçons avaient fait installer un piano à queue dans leur appartement de I'Hôtel George V à Paris. C'est donc à Paris que toutes cés compositions furent faites.
Au début de mars, le travail était terminé et les Beatles avaient réuni près d'une douzaine de chansons nouvelles. A tous les stades de la conception et de la production, on a constamment veillé à ce que « 4 Garçons dans le Vent » ne se transforme pas en une parade continuelle des interprétations des Beatles. Ces derniers étaient ies premiers à reconnaître que le film devait presenter autant d'aspects différents que possible de la personnalité de chacun d'eux. Le sujet de la comédie était, et est, de la plus haute importance et donne a John, Paul, George et Ringo une magnifique occasion de faire valoir leur remarquable sens de l’humour et leur talent de comédiens.
On s'aperçut vite qu'il n'était pas possible d'incorporer plus de six nouvelles chansons dans la bande sonore du film sans porter préjudice au déroulement de l'intrigue. Par ailleurs, il semblait très injuste d'éliminer le reste des nouvelles chansons puisqu'elles étaient toutes d'excellente qualité. On décida alors d'enregistrer toutes les compositions écrites par John et Paul et d'inclure les chansons supplémentairees sur la seconde face du disque.
La partie vocale en solo de la deuxième face est partagée entre les compositeurs des chansons, John et Paul. Paul chante « Things We Said Today » et il interprète « I'll Cry Instead » en duo avec John. La voix principale de « Any Time at All », « When I Get Home », « You Can't Do That » et « I'll Be back » est celle de John, qui est d'ailleurs admirablement soutenu dans toutes ces chansons par George et Paul.
Lorsque vous écouterez la deuxième face de ce disque, vous reconnaîtrez qu'il aurait vraiment été dommage d'eliminer un si extraordinaire choix de chansons. Maintenant, avec ce disque dans votre discothèque, vous avez une collection des enregistrements des Beatles très vaste et parfaitement à jour. Il est intéressant de rappeler que le microsillon qu'abrite cette pochette est le premier disque qui soit constitué de chansons entièrement composées et interprétées par les Beatles.
Le titre anglais du film « A Hard Day's Night » a, bien entendu, été trouvé par RINGO. Ringo le plus « pince-sans-rire » des Beatles. A la fin d'une journée de tournage particulièrement exténuante, il lança, en s'effondrant sur son fauteuil de toile « It's been a hard day's night that was » ! que l'on peut traduire par « Quelle sale journée ! ».

It was then decided to record all the compositions written by John and Paul and to include the additional songs on the second side of the disc.
The solo vocal part of the second side is shared between the songwriters, John and Paul. Paul sings "Things We Said Today" and performs "I'll Cry Instead" as a duet with John. The main voice of "Any Time at All", "When I Get Home", "You Can't Do That" and "I'll Be back" is that of John, who is admirably supported in all these songs. by George and Paul.
When you listen to the second side of this disc, you will recognize that it would have been a shame to eliminate such an extraordinary choice of songs. Now, with this disc in your library, you have a vast and fully up-to-date collection of Beatles recordings.
